Ingredients

1 gallon apple cider

4 (each 3 inches long) cinnamon sticks

1 1/2 teaspoons whole allspice

1 teaspoon whole cloves

1 navel orange, sliced

1 lemon, sliced

1 cup rum, or to taste (optional)

Cinnamon sticks, for garnish (optional)

 

Directions

In 6-quart saucepot, heat cider with cinnamon sticks, allspice, cloves, orange slices, and lemon slices to boiling over high heat. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer about 45 minutes.

Add rum (OPTIONAL); heat through. Do not boil. Pour cider through sieve into heat-safe punch bowl. Discard spices and fruit slices. Serve hot cider in warm cups accompanied by cinnamon-stick stirrers if you like.

Pumpkin Juice

Ingredients

6 cups apple juice

1-1/2 cup pumpkin puree (or two to four cups of pumpkin chopped and juiced with a juicer)

½ cup pineapple Juice

Directions

Combine all in a large pitcher and stir well.  Let it sit for an hour in the refrigerator. Strain with cheesecloth  (if too thick).  Chill or serve iced

 

Makes 8 servings.
